NEMISA will be hosting a Digital Skills Summit as part of its 4IR mandate.
The National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA), an SOE of the Department of Communications and Digital Technologies is proud to announce that the institution will be hosting the Digital Skills Summit set to begin from 11 – 13 March.
As part of the proceedings of the summit there will be a Digital Skills Colloquium, a Postgraduate Symposium and a 4IR Data Science Innovation Hackathon which will be hosted at the Birchwood Hotel and OR Tambo Conference Centre in Boksburg, Gauteng. The summit is part of NEMISA’s mandate and its role in the 4IR initiatives - that is to develop capacity in the country and to ensure that South Africans have the necessary digital skills to meaningfully and productively participate in a digital economy that is driven by rapidly advancing technologies.
The Digital Skills Colloquium is structured as a two-day conference where speakers were invited to submit their research or practitioner papers for consideration for inclusion into the programme. There will also be plenary sessions and guest speakers to provide additional opportunities for practitioners and stakeholders to share insights.
A Data Science Innovation Hackathon will enable various teams with different interests to mine data provided to them and reveal interesting trends that the data encapsulates. These will provide evidence for national policy recommendations. Leading solutions from the hackathon will be supported towards a data-driven digital transformation app for NEMISA.
